Paint
Hemp oil is the preferred base used for paint. After Marijuana prohibition hemp oil was replaced with flaxseed oil. This was especially unfortunate because flax oil does not penetrate the surface of the wood as well as hemp oil. Hemp oil is not only absorbed easily by the wood, but it also makes it resistant to scratches by hardening the woods surface.
Boards
Hemp can be used to make medium density boards. Russia, Poland, and other eastern European countries already manufacture boards made from hemp and other plant materials. Hemp mixed with wood can be used in existing mills without major changing equipment.
Cement
Hemp Cement can be made easily and is all natural. After being processed through a strainer, the finest pulp is captured in a cloth. It is then made into paper, dried, and crumbled into a fluffy powder. The powder is then mixed with quicklime, molded, and dried. This results in a substance that resembles concrete and is ideal for building houses.
Plastic
Because of the high cellulose content in hemp(up to 80%) it is also ideal for manufacturing plastics. Until the 1930's cellophane, celluloid, and other plastics were commonly made of hemp. Hemp can also be used to replace fiberglass in the door panels and roof lining in automobiles. much of the body of Henry Ford's first model T was made of hemp, and it was designed to take hemp fuel. Hemp can be used to make new plastic, and can also be blended with recycled plastic.
