When these fuels are burned all they release into the air is water and carbon dioxide. When coal or oil is burned, it releases many noxious compounds including sulphur dioxide. Nuclear fuel is also extremely dangerous to use because it causes a lethal hazard when dumped in land or at sea for 10s of 1000s of years. If we grew our own fuel we could avoid wars being fought over oil as we have seen when Iraq invaded Kuwait, devastating human life over something as simple as a natural resource. The only available option to solve the problems of war and pollution is changing a fuel to a safe, renewable resource like hemp.

In Ireland, hemp has been being tested as a replacement for peat to generate electricity. Because cannabis is approximately 80% cellulose, it is ideal for use as a fuel. The Irish government is planning a bio mass power plant which is to burn cannabis, waste paper, and chicken droppings. The plant is expected to generate electricity for at least 30,000 Irish homes.

The first automobiles were created by Henry Ford. His first model T was designed to run on cannabis fuel. In addition, most of the body work was also made from hemp. Unfortunately, the petrochemical industry collaborated with the United States government and ended the use of hemp through prohibition to increase their own profits.
